The integration of car hi-fi components into existing original sound systems is becoming increasingly complex due to intelligent radio diagnostic systems and the lack of preamplifier outputs on the factory radio. This is where the new HLM option comes into play.

The ready-made Molex connection ensures that there is no phase polarity reversal between the right and left channels and that the power amplifier or active woofer is connected in the correct phase at all times.

If the polarity of the left and right loudspeaker cables is incorrect when the signal is tapped manually (e.g. polarity of the cables is difficult to recognise), this can result in an active woofer not producing any bass or the bass in loudspeakers cancelling itself out. This is why tapping the signal with this Molex connector is very important for the sound.

Please note: This Molex connection can also be used for all T-cable sets for vehicles without Quadlock or Powerquadlock. You will find a list for your vehicle further down in the text

Examples for the application:

1. signal tap for amplifier (up to 4 channels) for loudspeakers

Front and/or rear loudspeaker signal can be separated with a Molex connector.
The signal is forwarded to the power amplifier using a 0.75qmm Molex extension and the amplified signal can be fed back using the 1.5qmm Molex extension.

2nd signal tap for an active woofer

The original front and rear speaker cables are not separated here, but only the parallel Molex connection is used for the front signal tap.
A Molex extension with 0.75qmm can be used to extend to the active woofer, provided it has a Molex high level IN.

3. signal tap for high-low adapter

(either both front channels or both rear channels) for the AAC.3 Molex with prepared plus and minus connection. A Molex extension is no longer required here, as the signal is routed via an RCA cable.

4. signal tap for amplifier (as example 1) with additional active woofer

Up to 4 speaker channels are split here so that an amplifier with a Molex signal input can be supplied with a signal and the amplified signal can be fed back to the speakers using a 1.5qmm Molex extension. In addition, an active woofer with Molex high level IN or an AAC.3 Molex with power connection can be connected.

Note: If the power amplifier or the active woofer does not have a Molex High Level In, the plug can also be cut off and the cables loosely connected accordingly.

The most intelligent high-low converter in its class:

Thanks to the integrated ADEP.2 circuit, which bypasses the radio diagnostics system, error messages or even the omission of individual functions (such as faders) are a thing of the past. Distorted music signals and an increased distortion factor, which can occur in conjunction with conventional high-low converters, are prevented by the intelligent ADEP.2 circuit. In addition, the load on the car radio amplifier is reduced and its power consumption is cut by up to 70%.

Smart signal detection

Its "Double Activation Circuit" also generates a +12 V remote signal to switch on connected amplifiers in two different ways. It either recognises the DC potential on the speaker outputs of standard factory car radios or uses integrated signal recognition with variable input sensitivity, which can also be activated.

The "Power Save Mode", which switches off the remote output if there is no input signal for longer than 2 minutes, is also part of the standard equipment. This is because many vehicles with "CAN" or similar bus systems leave the car radio "invisibly" activated for up to 45 minutes, even if you have left the vehicle in the meantime.

High Resolution-capable

The HLM HP generates a high-quality pre-amplifier signal from the loudspeaker signal of the car radio or amplifier of an original sound system and thus enables the simple connection of additional amplifiers. Its particularly wide transmission range of 18 Hz to 80,000 Hz guarantees excellent sound and makes it High Resolution-capable.

ATTENTION: There are a few exceptions (old BMW and similar) where the factory amplifiers have almost as little power as a normal car radio, for which we then recommend the HLM. But please contact us to make sure whether you need an Option HLM or Option HLM HP.
